Installation day! At Nelson Designs, we're always looking forward to seeing our vision come together in a client's home after months of planning, picking colors and sourcing items.
When these clients asked for the calm of the beach in the middle of Kansas, we understood exactly! Our goal was to give them a beautiful, serene coastal feel without looking overly themed. They love to travel and read, collect unusual objects of art and wanted to enjoy their interests throughout their home.
On installation day, four of us arrived with a truck and van full of furniture and accessories, ready to transform their great room. The clients opted to go out while we worked, for a more dramatic reveal just like on TV! We got down to business and unloaded, unwrapped and played!
The floor set was determined by the placement of the TV as well as the location of the fireplace. Two sand-colored sofas with aqua and blue pillows and two ocean-blue swivel chairs formed the seating area. We added a round, light wood coffee table and a tree trunk end table to place a glass or book. The alcove called for a large piece of furniture and the oversized, hand-carved sideboard we had in store was the perfect fit. The addition of reflective vases and a coral grouping under the artwork played off of the sanded glass lamps. All around the room, we mixed in new accessories with their special books, shells and coral. Our goal is always to fuse the client's well-loved pieces with new ones to create a comfortable, well-curated space.
In a little over two hours the furniture was placed, art and mirrors hung, and accessories placed to finish the room for the reveal. It was just like a TV show reveal with all the excitement and happiness a completed vision can bring. Our clients were thrilled!
