How To: Mixing Design Styles

As Seen In: Wichita SPLURGE Magazine

Gone are the days of matchy-matchy! Mixing styles makes a home interesting and unique. Let's take a look at a few spaces that have fused two styles together to create a beautiful and interesting space.

Mid--Century Modern and Rustic together... it never would have happened in the fifties or sixties, but it works perfectly together! Above, we see the clean lines of a wooden arm chair with an interesting geometric black and white print. But what really makes it fabulous is the contrast of the over-sized cog on the shelf in contrast to the straight lines of the shelving units and vases. I love this look!

Above, traditional and modern make a statement together! What's more traditional than the Greek key design on the beautiful round coffee table? It always has an elegant look, especially in this brushed gold finish. When combined with the sleek modern sofa, the setting is truly outstanding. I just love the narrow arms, rich wood sides and straight lines on this sofa!

Art Deco and traditional Greek Key are shown together in this picture above. It's unbelievably luxe with the rich fabrics in fuchsia, grey and creams mixed. The bed is Art Deco indicated by the straight panels building up to the center panel. The very traditional Greek key is shown in the pillow fabric and reappears in the design on the ottomans as well. The colors, styles and design present an inviting and luxurious look.
