Here is a large family room that needed to be comfortable for a family to watch TV and enjoy the beautiful view. The sectional is great for sitting or napping and the swivel chairs are perfect for visiting or watching TV. The room set up started with the sectional and the swivel chairs came next. To carry the color throughout the room we used the same fabric from the chairs in the drapes and picked up a mix up colors in the accent pillows.
The antique glass adds lots of color to the room and is reflected beautifully in the large mirror. The coffee table is just the shape needed for the room. The curves allow for movement without hitting your knees on corners. One of my favorite accents is the oval end table that fits the height of the sectional arm and isn’t too big for the space.
These puppies have found their favorite spot in their home. The mixture of fabrics, colors and textures makes it look and feel so cozy. Mixing the neutral tones of grey and cream allow for pops of color throughout the room as seen in the lumbar pillow. Art work in the room emphasizes the mix of colors. Mixing warm and cool colors allows you to set the mood and the black accent wall really lets the colors shine. Don’t be afraid to pick colors that make you happy. Just make sure to balance tones around the room.
Perfect home design is making the room usable, comfortable and inviting. These clients have a collection of antique glass they wanted to display along with mementos of their travels. Nelson Designs loves helping people find the best use of each room and show the interests of the owners. The blue sofas and white chairs play off the tones in the area rug and allow the golden tones of glass really shine. The gold accents on the end table and large oval vases ties colors together.
The perfect round table is featured here. It has the most interesting gold metal base with a glass top that is so easy to keep clean. If you have an unusual set up in your eating area, you will be surprised at the easy way a round table allows for movement in your room.
Here is a new build we had the pleasure of helping this year. It is a great open design and the light a nd airiness make it perfect for this couple and their precious cats. The large room needed a large coffee table and we added this one that is cream with wonderful bronze accents. The accent color of blue came from the area rug and was carried in the chair print and solid blue accent pillows. We used the warm metal tones on the accent table, entry table and accessories. By carrying the colors around the room, everything feels balanced and comfortable.
One of the last rooms of the year we were involved in was this bathroom remodel. The walls are white with white tile accented with a strip of black down the middle of the shower. We picked up the black in the countertop and the mirror frame as well as the shower head. To add interest to the walls beautiful glass plates were hung over the toilet and a 4x 5 ft painting was hung opposite the mirror to introduce red to the black and white color scheme.
This house was so much fun! We did it about 10 years ago and our lovely clients wanted an update. We had so much fun replacing the dark furniture with lighter and brighter tones. This sectional fit the space perfectly and adds wonderful, comfortable seating. When working with an angle like this a round or oval coffee table or ottoman works perfectly.
We also eliminated the many objects we had used on the mantel and replaced them with fewer but larger pieces.
All in all, 2024 was an interesting year and these are just a few of the projects we worked on. We saw a rebirth of color and a great interest in green, blue and warm ocher tones leading the way.
More people want less in their homes reflecting a cleaner look on tables and shelves. Wall art included lots of multiples as well as large oversized art and mirrors.
